Won’t Marry Me Off – 21st Century Woman

I heard something miraculous. Something that tuned me into the blessing it is to be a woman in 2024. Although the conversations amongst my female peers weigh heavily with the imbalances of the masculine and feminine, this thing sparked a revelation. A young woman in her 20’s shared her thoughts and perceived blessing to be the first woman in her lineage to live alone.

What a spectacular concept to familiarize with. I thought to myself, of all the wondrous, and strong women before me. With some even being the most independent people I know, none of them had the social belief, opportunity, or resources to live alone. I pondered this for the first time, while sitting in a space I’m lucky enough to call my own.

My house, with all of my beloved belongings, placed exactly as I arranged them, with no input from another. My house, which holds space for my creativity, self care, my sweet dog, and myself. I feel lucky to be a 21st century woman. I feel blessed to be witness to the balancing and the growing love between the sexes.
